Idle battery drain

Hi,

I know many threads that report fast battery drain have been posted already, but my issue seems to be somewhat unique. It is not due to a recent Android upgrade, bad signal reception or a particular app.

As the attached screenshots indicate (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lcopgwd30jvpebp/AAB2gRlOB-dG9ffAGRbhw60ha?dl=0), battery drains on flight mode, with location deactivated (I rebooted after that), without any sim or SD card inserted, at a rate of about 2%/h. This was recorded on Android 6.0.1 just after a factory reset. However, the issue was similar on Lollipop and actually started suddenly about 4 months after the phone purchase. Before that, I could easily end a moderate use day with 75-80% battery left, now about 40-45%. The difference then/now is about equavalent to the drain in airplane mode which, according to the stats menu, is 85% due to "misceallenous" ("divers" in French) sources.

I've also tried using Better Battery Stats but there were no irregularities concerning the wakelocks. So I have two hypotheses:

- Hardware issue with the battery

- Some component (GPS? Wifi?) is constantly running and is never shut down by Android

Would you have an idea of what could cause the problem? The phone is still under warranty so sending it back to Sony is not an issue for me.

could you upload the screenshots to box, dropbox, drive, etc as no one can see them until they are approved by a moderator.

Currently 23.5.A.0.570, but I started experiencing the problem on 23.4.A.1.232 (which I had when I bought the phone and with which the battery worked perfectly fine for 4 months)

I think this is the problem with 3rd party app.

How could that be? The phone has been factory-reset and no apps were installed.

Welcome to the community.

When you say you did a factory reset, was that from the phones menus? Or did you run a software repair? If you haven't done the software repair, try that before contacting your local support team.

It was a factory reset from the phone menus. So I went on and did a software repair from Xperia Companion which, unsurprizingly, did not solve the problem.

Hence I assume it is a hardware problem and sent my phone to the Swiss official Sony repair center (I bought my phone there and the US centers do not accept phones bought abroad), which my warranty will hopefully cover. You may close this *unsolved* topic.
