HI,

I faced this issue recently where I mistakenly took the sony magnetic cable and connected it in an incorrect manner to my xperiz Z2.

This was after the 5.1.1 update.

All of a sudden my phone wouldn't start, using my sony power bank and a fast charge cable I eventually got it up and running.

But now the battery drains like anything regardless of the least usage.

A battery which used to last 1.5 days with me now barely lasts 9hours without doing anything.

The battery keeps fluctuating when it reaches 90%.

A change in two factory outlet, specific z2 cables haven't helped

Three repairs , one re-image, two complete resets haven't helped at all

Second issue

The sound all of a sudden is drastically low,

I have the sony mdr-nc31e which seems to have a much lower tone than what it used to.

Again repairs haven't worked, the Equaliser doesn't seem to work any longer.

and the sound only seems to come from one speaker compared to an earlier two, this is the model D6502.

What's your take on this?

Hi naliot, welcome to the community!

Some steps you can try:

Charge your phone frequently. This will not affect the lifetime of the battery.

Downloading data from the Internet is power consuming. When you're not using the Internet, you can save power by disabling all data connections over mobile networks. You can do this from Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Data enabled. This setting does not prevent your phone from transmitting data over other wireless networks.

Turn off GPS, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® when you don't need these features. You can turn them on and off more easily by adding the Quick settings widget to your Home screen.

Use the STAMINA mode and Low battery mode features to reduce battery consumption. You can select the power saving mode that best suits the way you use your device. You can also customise the settings of each power saving mode.

Note! The STAMINA mode and Low battery mode features are available from Android™ 4.1 and later. Some products using Android™ 4.0, or which were updated from Android™ 4.0 to later versions have Extended Standby Mode. It is also a feature that reduces battery consumption.

Set your synchronization applications (used to synchronize your email, calendar and contacts) to synchronize manually. You can also synchronize automatically, but increase the synchronization intervals.

Check the battery usage menu in the phone to see which applications use the most power. Your battery consumes more power when you use video and music streaming applications, such as YouTube™. Some Android Market™ applications also consume more power.

Close and exit applications that you are not using.

Lower the screen display brightness level.

Turn off your phone or use Airplane mode if you are in an area with no network coverage. Otherwise, your phone repeatedly scans for available networks, and this consumes power.

Use a Sony original handsfree device to listen to music. Handsfree devices demand less battery power than the phone's loudspeakers.

Keep your phone in standby whenever possible. Standby time refers to the time during which the phone is connected to the network and is not being used.

Areas with poor reception or signal strength increase the drain on the battery and shorten talk and standby times. Operating the phone for a significant amount of time in areas with poor signal strength results in less than optimum battery performance.

Switch to a wallpaper that is not a Live wallpaper. Live wallpapers consume more power.

If these steps don't help then follow @Uliwooly's advice. Below are some additional steps:

Running the software repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia
Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the
following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the
continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that
you are holding the relevant button down before during and
after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.

Cached processes show up for the phone which run the os.
Watsapp is the highest with 10%
The screen display is nil but it takes up 18%
No app is higher than 5% apart from this.

Secondly note
When I charge using a dock or Sony chargers my battery percentage falls after 89%.
Imagine a non Sony charger is able to charge my phone but not Sony.

Thirdly without my screen overheating the cursor goes bonkers typing anything it feels like.

Fourthly sometimes I can't even unlock my screen and have to wait several minutes before I can using code or swipe method

Why doesn't Sony acknowledge this as a defect

Well as Sony forums haven't responded.

I ran a check with the voltameter.

What was found is my battery didn't receive enough power and this kept fluctuating.

Gave it to a sony centre who stated I need a battery replaced.

A new battery will not fix this issue. It is a well known issue for over 12 months and highlighted in many threads in this forum, and is still unsolved. Sony will not recognize this as a product hw issue or a sw issue and their support will keep giving futile advise to just close down apps, save battery in various way s and reinstall firmware with and without factory reset. The conclusion in the Sony User community is that Sony either cannot figure out the solution or will not recognize that it can be a hw issue, since this would be very costly. My advise is to take your unit to warranty repair while the warranty lasts. If they cannot fix it, you can claim a replacement.
