Hi,

Lol I dropped my phone soon after and the touchscreen literally stopped working. So I just gave up and purchased Sony Xperia z5. Till now no issues, it's the best phone I've owned to date and I'll use it to death (despite winning an iPhone 7 in a competition). Thanks for your reply!

Hi,

I've had my Xperia Z3 for a few months and everything has been good. Over the past couple of weeks however, my screen has been jumping. It sometimes looked like it was scrolling by itself or getting stuck and stuttering like someone is scrolling up Abe down really fast. This was only happening in the Facebook app but now it's happening on YouTube, Photos and even my own home screen. (flickers from bottom upwards).

Problem persisted after latest software update and is also happening during Safe Mode. But whenever I record the screen or take a screenshot, the jumping or flickering does not show up. Phone hasn't been anywhere near water and hasn't been dropped.

I did have a screen protector which I thought might be causing these issues but the jumping and flickering continued after I removed it.

Also, my phone screen goes black when I make a call and I'm unable to make it light up until the person on the other end hangs up. This renders me unable to use the dial pad or just access my phone whilst on a phone call. I figured out that pressing my thumb on the proximity sensor lights up the screen again, and that perhaps my screen protector was messing with it, but the problem persists even when I removed my screen protector.

I would really appreciate any advice on these issues. Thanks for reading!

Every android phone is under stagefright threat. When a device is affected by stagefright it became unstable. The phone restarts itself. Softwares will force close .My old Xperia phones Xperia L and Xperia M.

Both phone was vulnerable to stagefright and became unstable.

That's awful. I was gonna give my phone in today...
@Furree
Buddy this screen flickering/tearing thing is a firmware related bug. I've been experiencing this on my Xperia z3 compact since the update to 23.4.A.1.200 with customization 1289-4696 R5C.

I don't have an issue with the proximity sensor. I think you have two different problems. Proximity sensor related issue and the screen flickering thing. I'm talking about the latter one. I did a repair through pc companion but no good. I think it can only be fixed with a firmware update. This first appeared in the 23.4.A.1.200 firmware. Hasn't been fixed in 23.4.A.1.232. What firmware version are you using?

I did a repair too, with no avail! And I have the same firmware version as you, 23.4.A.1.232. And yes I do think I have two different issues but no one listens to me at the store where I got the phone from.... To fix the proximity sensor issue I'll most probably just have to give it in, in any case.

I had this same issue. I too had taken good care of my handset.

In my case, the battery was overheating which caused the handset to bend slightly on one side (above the power button).

This wasn't easy to detect. It looked straight until I put it against a book spine. The bend became clear.

I physically bent it back and now it's not so bad.

Overheating battery is the cause. Poor job Sony.
