Has anyone else has the problem of their handset getting extremely hot? Once mine gets very hot the screen becomes unresponsive and functions very slow. Once I leave it to cool it's back to being fast again. Has anyone got their handset fixed or heard anything about this issue?

Z5 Compact running hot?

I got a Z5 Compact just yesterday and have been trying it out. I do like the phone a lot, especially the side power button / fingerprint reader is fantastic. The back could be more curved to make it nicer to hold and the display calibrated better.

Anyway, my problem is that the phone runs hot! After unlocking it and just browsing the net (no videos) for about 20 minutes the phone gets warm especially from the back. It's not burning or anything but enough to be noticeable and enough to be a bit uncomfortable. Watching a YouTube video doesn't really change the situation. The only time I've got it really hot is when Play Store was downloading all my apps on the phone - but then again my old Galaxy S4 got hot in that situation too.

Is this normal for this phone? Because if it is then I'm returning it. I don't need an extra hand warmer for winter. I even tried running it in safe mode but the same thing happened, it gradually gets warm.

I tested various situations (using camera to take a video, watching YouTube, browsing websites) and compared to my S4 and the Z5 Compact was always much warmer from both front and back (even without a back cover on S4).

It's hard for me to say if there's anything wrong or not. The phone will get warm when used but it shouldn't be "uncomfortably warm". If you believe there is something wrong with it I would first advise you to repair the phone software using PC Companion..

Before repairing your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to.
How to backup?

If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

I have to agree with the heat. I really like the phone and whilst the majority of usage is absolutely fine (no heat at all), those extended periods of use, the phone can become very warm. However, in these situations, I don't experience any other issues.

I'm wondering whether Sony might provide an update to throttle the processor, as I would rather a cooler running phone than any performance a full throttle 810 may bring.

My Z5 also gets hot, only in more extreme usage though (mainly the camera).

General usage of the phone seems fine, but if I record 4k / use the AR effects the for a few miniutes the back does get very hot.

I recorded 5 mins of 4k to test and where it didn't over heat... the back was very hot.

Hope this can be solved with the new camera software.

I'm having overheating issues and unresponsive screeen on my Z5 Compact. It wasn't perect before the Marshmallow update (it's only two months old), but is much worse since, the back of the phone now gets scaldingly hot when using, or sometimes when charging (not always). It's corrupted my SD card twice in the last week.

I'm trying a software repair through the new Xperia Companion, but it's about an hour in and on less than a fifth of the progress bar - I htought it wasn't moving at all, but it is creeping across the screen.

Any hints and tips, please? Should it normally take this long? I did back up before the repair, and know it'll take hours to download the apps etc again, so his is looking like a shole day to repair something that shouldn't need repairing.

Thanks

can someone, preferably someone from the support team, tell me what temperature is alright with z5 compact by installing the app CPU TEMP and checking what temperature the 810 processor and the battery have?
usually when i like surf with the z5c and notice that it gets warm, CPU TEMP tells me about 43°C for the battery and like 48°-53° for the processor. are these temperatures okay? thanks a lot!

Hi I bought my Z5 few months ago, I'm very happy with this phone. Unfortunately for the last two weeks phone is overheating a lot, even when I'm not using it or just charging or doing easy tasks phone is very hot and that drain battery quick. Any idea what might be the cause?

My z5 dual also used to heat quickly...
And then one day it stopped working when it got a few raindrops, when it was supposed to be waterproof.
I dnt know if there was a problem with the phone itself. I left it with the reseller to get it repaired because it was barely after having bought the phone after 1 month. It's already been several months and the phone's still with them. They say that i'll have to pay to change the motherboard.
Any advice please?
