I have a news app that appears only to update correctly when I remove the app from the recent apps list.

Is there a way to remove all cache for all apps on phone at once?

I've tried clearing cache data for the app but hasn't helped.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Open up Settings > Storage and tap "cached data" in the list to clear cache for all apps on the phone.

That solution didn't help unfortunately.

It's a news application, and when I clear the app from recent apps then go back to the same news filter I see the most recent at the top, however if I hit the back button either on phone or app then go back to the same filter the top news story that I had as the most recent isn't showing at the top , unless I clear from recent apps go back and its there showing in most recent order.

What can be causing this? could it be bad memory?

Well, it seems like it's designed to not use the back button. A bit odd I think but it seems like they intended it that way.
