Tethering bluetooth with Macbook Pro - can I keep USB plugged in after 100%?

Hi,

I just got the z3. I noticed that when I share the hotspot with my Macbook Pro 13, the battery drains quite quickly, even if I switch it to 3G. So I started tethering with my Bluetooth instead, because I heard that drains the battery a little less.

My first question! Is the above correct?

My second question - if I connect the z3 up to my Mac via USB cable (therefore charging it in the process) is it ok to leave the z3 plugged in once it has reached 100%, or should I unplug it and let it do more cycles?

I know the Mac will stop charging once it reaches 100% but continue using the power - does the z3 do the same, to protect the battery and stop it from overcharging?

Hi and welcome to the community!

You will probably see a lower battery usage when you tether over bluetooth instead of WiFi.

The phone will stop charging when the battery is full so you can leave it connected.

i have sony xperia z3 trying to connect to macbook pro yosemite

im unable to connect via usb tethering. i had followed all the instruction available on the net.

been also flash it with Hornds as well but no luck.

no info available when choose usb connection - it said the pc will install the software, but plug in to the mac nothing happening.

so then the box for the usb tethering its unavailable for tick.

please advice

Hi and welcome to the community!

As i understand it, i'm afraid MacOS doesn't have the drivers needed to use USB Tethering with Android.

There are some 3:rd party solutions for it like HoRNDIS but i don't know how well that will work. I would recommend that you try tethering over bluetooth or WiFi instead or that you contact the developer of HoRNDIS to see if they can find the issue.
