YES!, I've had this problem since the first day I got it and took a group photo.
It was pretty embarrassing since I was supposed to be showing off my new phone.

Happens without the case as well, I also have a protective film on the back but I don't see how that could change things.

Does anyone know how to fix this or is this a hardware problem specific to us?

I've seen this before with other users, on different Xperias, if your finger or anything its closer to the flash or even the camera/lens you will get that type of pictures

Thanks for the advice, but I just tried taking photo's without anything near back side of the phone (including my fingers) and the flash still takes up the right side of the picture

I had a very thing screen protector on the back of the phone but it didnt cover the flash or the camera. Took it off and gave the phone, gave it a clean and the flash mark went away (for now?). I'm pretty amazed, how could such a thin screen protector make a large flash mark? But this also means I won't be able to protect the back of my phone now

I told you, it was the film, you can protect it but make sure that the film its not as close to either the camera lens nor the flash.
