Android (& All apps) crash after updating the OS

I have a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. After the update I get nothing but a black screen with a notification bar and I cannot do anything at all.

I found out that if I hold the camera button the camera pops out. I can only take pictures. If I try to share it the app I choose to share the picture with crashes.
Nothing else works.

I cannot connect it to pc, because I cannot unlock it.
I tried going to recovery mode but when I hold the power button and the volume buttons nothing happens.

Do you have any other suggestions that might help me recover or hard reset my phone?

What do you mean that you can't unlock the phone?

boot on safe mode and report back

Well, I can't really see anything on the screen. So I assume that I cannot unlock the phone. I'm talking about screen lock.
All I can see is this:

I tried whatt you suggested with the safe mode. But the only difference was the "Safe mode" mark at the left bottom of the screen. Still cannot get the home screen to work. I assume that it has soomething to do with the software (rather than the hardware, because I can see the Sony & Android logo and the login animation - the blue waves-) after this I get only this screen. I can take screen shots and record the screen (open the camera as I said previously) nothing helps. I tried using the PCC but it tells me that I have to "The screen of the phone / tablet has to be unlocked."

Remove both SIM and SD cards and try again, if that doesn't work then repair the phone with PCC

I dont have an SSD card, I tried removing the sim card. That didnt help.
Can you guide me how to repair the phone with pcc when I get the popup that requires my phone to be screen unlocked (since I cannot do that )?

Turn off the phone > run PCC > follow the steps > do NOT turn on the phone > then press and hold the volume key while connecting the USB cable, if that doesn't work use MyXperia or Android Device Manager to reset the phone.

How long does it take to reset it with PCC?

I have the same problem and can´t handle it.

Could someone please explain it to me in more detail?

Performing a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I am at the preparation now, how long does the step between pressign volume down button and the last step need? And does my phone show it to me somehow? maybe the green light?

Make sure to turn off the device,do not connect until you are prompted.
