View datausage apps

Hi,

So far I have not been able to open the settingsscreen about the data usage.

A general description about how it should be possible can be found here.

So far I found 3 ways that should work.

1. Open settings. Try to open the option 'data usage' and fail to find it.

2. As described here. Via the fast settings. The Icon I need is missing.

3. opening settings. Search for data. click on 'data usage' (or in the language of the phone 'datagebruik'), get the message "Instellingen is gestopt" which translates as "settings stopt".

Other side notes: I can only enable/disable mobile data via the fast settings (Not sure if this is the official turn, swipe down twice to open it). I can use mobile data as I can surft the net if mobile data is enabled and wifi disabled. Via settings it is not possible to do anything with mobile data.

Software is up to date. (build number: 23.1.A.1.28)

Main question is how I get these settings back so I can see how much data I use on both Wifi and mobile data.

Hi!

Open Settings / Data Transfer.

Then from Ellipsis menu select "Show wireless transfer".

To see data transfer breakdown scroll down to list of apps. There you have all apps transfer. If you select an app you can see foreground vs background transfer and there is an ability to prevent app from using mobile/background data transfers.

Thanks for your reply.

I managed to open "settings". But failed to spot "data transfer". Or anything else with the name "data" in it.

My settingsmenu looks like this (only copied the wireless networks and networks part).

The wifi option lead to an enumeration of the available wireless network and the ability to toggle the wifi on and off.

"instellingen" means "settings".

I hope you can help me further. Could you tell me where to find this 'data transfer' option in the settings? Am I using the settings-menu you intended?

Hmm.... @Rickard could you look at this screen? I do have "Data transfer" on Xperia Z3 Compact (phone), Xperia Z1 Compact with Lollipop and on Nexus tablet. Is he missing something?

@Durew same screen from my Z3 Compact in Polish. Data transfer is between Bluetooth and Xperia Connectivity. Firmware 23.1.A.1.28.

That looks strange. What if you go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Settings -> Clear data -> OK and then restart your phone?

Hi Richard,

The first time didn't work. Second time I tried to empty the chache as well (seemingly with no effect) and let the device shutdown before manually booting it (instead of using 'reboot'). Now the 'data usage' option is back. Problem solved I guess.
