Deleted pictures keep coming back

I have a problem deleting photos from my phone. After deleting photos and deleting them from trashcan as well they seem like they have been deleted but when i turn my phone off and on again, the deleted pictures are there again. I have deleted them at least seven times, but they always keep coming back. Am I doing something wrong or what is the problem? I don't use Google's auto back up, so that shouldn't be the issue.

Anyone else having this problem or know how to solve this? Or is it just impossible to delete the photos without using the computer?

I am a New android user, i had Iphone before i bought this sony few months back so feel free to talk to me like i'm an idiot, because i am with android.

Hi,

Could you please elaborate? Is this photos that you have taken with the camera or is it pictures that comes from an application e.g? Could you also check where these photos are stored that you are trying to remove? You can see this if you go to Album > Tap the photo > Menu button (the one with three dots) > Details > File path:

Hey,

They are the photos taken with camera, not photos from apps. (whatsapp etc, they stay deleted).

The photos are stored to SD card. (/suoraan/sdcard/DCIM etc)

Okay, could you please try to remove a photo and then use the application "File Commander" (this is a preinstalled file manager) and go to SD-card > DCIM > 100ANDRO, to see if the photo is removed from the folder?

Okay, the photo is still there, i found it.with the file commander. So should i always delete the photos with the file commander or..?

Could be your SD card or you may have another app stopping this

That's also my thought that it could be the SD-card. Could you change the data storage to Internal Storage via the Camera application (Camera > Menu button > The tools tab > Data Storage > Internal Storage) to see if these photos are removed from the DCIM folder?

If they are, you might want to move the content on your SD-card to your PC and then format the SD-card to see if this can help.

Okay i tried this and the photos are not removed from the DCIM-folder, they are still there. Should I still try formating the sd-card?

I have the same problem since weeks and tried everything. Some photos come back 6 times. I used different apps to delete the pictures (Photos, Album, File Commander/paid version, ES/paid version) without success.

Sounds very strange if the photo is not deleted even when it's stored on the internal storage. But when you guys remove a photo, you do it via Album? By going to Album > Long press at a photo or just tap it > Tap the trash can > Delete?

@Hampus I have the same problem and I delete them like the second way . Tap on the photo > tap the trash can > delete

Then I have to go to the file commander to delete it also manually from there

Hi buspilot,

And what about if you boot the phone into safe mode two times? If you first boot the phone into safe mode > Go to Album and remove the photo. When this is done, "reboot" the phone into safe mode once again to see if the photo still appear.

Do you have some kind of cloud storage i.e. Box, Dropbox etc? Could it be set up to synconise (Camera back up set) and thats the reason the pictures are coming back?

No, i dont use any cloud sstorage. Just the sd-card

I have the same issue. Lost so much personal data reformatting sd card..

Anyway, I formatted the SD Card.

I moved the photo storage to the device.

I rebooted in safe mode.

I don't have cloud storage enabled.

I don't have auto backup enabled.

I deleted photos in photos when it says "delete everywhere". Yeah right..

I deleted off the file commander, back again.

This is getting rediculous!

Yep, same here getting tired, every picture is comming back after a while. Next phone defenitely a Iphone for me again, android doesn't work also for me.I have the experia z1 now almost 2 years.

Hi! I am having the same problem with videos.Does'nt matter how I delete them or if on phone or memory card,they have come back 10+ times.So annoying as you can't even play them they are just black & no picture.. Had an Xperia Z & a Z2 but never had tis problem.So what is going on SONY?
