Message app keeps crashing

Recently I upgraded to Android lollipop but after that the message app just won't open and keeps on crashing when I click on it.
Can anyone help me on this?

Settings-apps-all-messages,force stop and clear data. Restart. Make sure you have a backup of your messages before you try.

I am not sure it will help,just told you to keep an eye there too,as the discussion is almost the same. You can try to perform the repair.

Alright.. However I am not quite sure how that person got the app working but if there is no other option I will perform repair..

Rickard said here they will fix this in next firmware release (but for message app crashing in ultra stamina). Not sure why yours is like that.

Same problem here brand new phone brought last week. Fpse and gta san andreas keeps crashing aswell as messaging now my xperia z3 was perfect. Think sony should sort this out prompto as people like me have forked out a lot of cash for a phone that buggs out and cant text tempted to get a nokia i am think its all a big con. the xz1 and xz premium? Sort your older phones out

Mines crashes every time, xperia Z3 worked fine as well, a short term work around is to open the app, click on the write new massage round button in the bottom right. Type the name of the person you would write to, write the message and send it and it will open the messaging list and work but once you back out, you'll have to do the same step again.
