How to make ES filee manager work?

Hello everyone. I used to use ES file manager to manage my files on my xperia SP. Now I had xperia Z2, but I can't use ES file manager the way I used to. I mean : if I want to move for example a picture from my internal phone memory to the External SD card , amessage pops up telling methat the task failed.

Then I press on Task Details and a Hint pops up saying: Your system forbidsES from writing on external SD card(check https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=67570), so ES can only write on it after rooted. I tried to enter this url but couldn't, an error occured saying :

Your client does not have permission to get URL /p/android/issues/detail from this server. That’s all we know.

I want to know if there is a way to make ES work without rooting. Thanks.

You need to use File commander,the app that can write on external on KK.

After lollipop update the SD Card priviledges should be back for 3-party apps, in kitkat the SD is locked, you can access by Win7/8 or Mac to copy and edit, but thru Z2's apps without FileKomander it will be always rejected.

Thank U all for your respond. Now my phone's operating system is KitKat, I want to know if I can use Es file manager to move files from internal phone memory to the external if I upgrade to lollipop. Thank U again.

I think you might be able but I am not sure as I use on a Z3 tablet compact File commander (I find it useful). I will check this afternoon.

So tested on a Z3 tablet compact,it seems to work both ways (tried with some docs and pictures).

Thank u so much. I have an update with the number 23.1.A.0.690, is it for lollipop 5.0.2 or not? I didn't update my phone yet cause I've read about many problems in the Lollipop update in the forum. What is your advice for me? To update or not to update! Waiting for your reply , and thanks.

I'd advice anyone to update to Lollipop. The new features are incredible. But I siggest that you back up all your data, and make a clean installation of Lollipop by using "Repair phone/tablet". This will minimize the issues when you use your Z2 with Lollipop.

Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

Thank U so much Quester. Is updating with PC companion better than updating through the WIFI - I mean the air.

This is what I mean. Is updating using the phone better or PC companion? Or are they the same?

Updates done via PCC (computer) seem to be more stable and many times people say after OTA updates they have reinstalled with PCC.

It is easy,first you need to install PCC. When you open it,if an update is available you are notified. Easy peasy,you will need to download the update,turn off the device when prompted and connect it via USB. The process will roll itself from there.

I didn't update to lollipop. That is because PCC isn't working with me, in other words not the PCC ,but the driver of my phone . In the MTP mode my PC doesn't recognise my phone, so I can't update my phone. I don't want to update by the OTA. I'm trying in hard to update . When done I'll see if ES file manager works fine in the lollipop update.

By the way has anybody installed ES file manager and has also updated to lollipop, and does ES works fine or is the same in the Kit Kat.
