First time poster...

I have had the Z3 Compact form a couple of months now. In this time it has Master Reset itself three times while being carried in my pocket. On every occasion the SD Card is wiped and the Phone Memory is wiped.

On the most recent occasion, it rebooted, went through the set up pages and loaded me with the Turkish Language setting. All whilst being carried in my pocket.

The device is password protected (required by Exchange Server) and the Storage components are encrypted.

Is this due to the sensitivity of the screen, it can be activated by textiles, gloves etc?

Does anybody know if there is a way to dial the screen sensitivity down?

Cheers,

Gee

Hi, Seems you are using exchange service (EAS). In EAS, it can set a total number of consecutive password mismatch to trigger a factory reset without user agreement. Is it possible that someone or any attempts to access your email accounts?

when setup the exchange email service, the device manager permission contains erase data remotely.

The thing is.......everybody says its not possible, though i have now found many people on the web complaining of the same thing. First thought was remote reset, so password has been getting changed weekly, but still the phone factory resets itself monthly. Goes in pocket fine, 1/2 hour later comes out of pocket factory reset. At this point Sony or somebody needs to accept it is happening and fix it. It only seems to be happening on the Z3. I'm not inexperienced with this sort of thing, been in tech retail for 20 years and have beta tested at least 8 operating systems (no this Z3 is 100% factory). Does anyone have a link to Sony? Otherwise i am going to just start returning these things to OPTUS and exchange to new each time it happens or get refund. I have no issues with faults happening, seen that all my life in everything, however i have a massive issue when no one wants to recognise and do something about a fault. Had the same problem with a Ford dealer claiming no fault....ended up being given a new car when it was 18 months old.

@TerryC

Thanks for the support mate, I thought I was going crazy. This is definitley a screen sensitivity issue on my behalf. No chance it it related to malware and password capture as stated in previous posts.

To add weight to my claim the device has reset on it's own just last weekend, burns all data and starts you with a fresh phone untouched phone.

Does anybody know how to dial down the screen sensitivity?
