I've tried probably all available x-reality / bravia engine mods on xda, modifying only DRM files or whole BE along with build.prop, but no luck at all. There is no difference with/without x-reality 😕

Unlocked bootloader and x-reality Z2

I've just purchased a new (well, slightly used) Z2, updated to the latest 4.4.4 firmware (23.0.1.A.3.9) I was eager to try X-reality processing, however I didn't see any difference when X-reality switched on or off. After several hours of trying and reading all available xda topics I've found out, that my bootloader is unlocked (probably by previous owner, so DRM keys are lost..). From what I understood, X-reality SHOULD work with the latest 4.4.4 firmware, but this doesn't seem to be case.

1. is it possible to somehow restore x-reality with unlocked bootloader and this FW version?

2. would lock of bootloader without DRM keys restore x-reality?

3. does bootloader locking erase data?

Thank you

The DRM keys are lost forever, you could contact your local Xperia Care

http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

but it will probably won't be worth it, as they will have to replace the motherboard and that's the most expensive part of the phone.

you could re-lock the bootloader so you can use PCC or Bridge or OTA updates but your DRM keys are gone.

I am aware of the fact that DRM keys are gone, was just hoping that I could get x-reality back. Idea with replacement of motherboard is interesting though I don't miss PCC/OTA as I'm using Flashtool. I'd like to have mainly x-reality and low light camera

If your bootloader is unlocked and you have rooted then you maybe able to sideload it via this thread on XDA here but you will need to read the instructions as you will need to install Buildprop from the playstore and edit two lines

After another few hours of flashing several mods I finally found one way to make this work.

I performed these steps (based on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672):
1. lock bootloader
2. flash 17.1.A.2.69 TW with full wipe
3. reboot, check camera and x-reality - OK
4. unlock bootloader
5. reboot, check camera and x-reality - still OK
6. root, install recovery
7. install pre-rooted 23.0.1.A.0.167 via CWM (system, supersu and recovery)
8. flash all files from stock 23.0.1.A.0.167 except system partition with no wipe
9. reboot, check camera and x-reality - NOT OK
10. install DRM fix, check camera and x-reality - OK
11. restore only user apps via Titanium backup
