Out of nowhere I've started having a problem with my Z1 compact.

Today my phone powered off. I switched it back on but 10 mins later it powered off again. It was plugged into a USB plug on my.

I went out for lunch and my phone powered off and would not come back on.

Got back to work, plugged in phone and it switched on.

Now this looks like I've got a flat battery. But it was reporting at 66%, and it had been on usb charge for much of the day. Splashtop (which is very heavy on the battery) had been running for a chunk of the morning, so my battery could be low, but I wouldn't expect it to be drained. However after about 5 mins of being plugged in, my battery was showing 100%. Then it powered off again. When I switched it back on, it first showed the battery charge logo, before the bootup started. This I thought only came on if the battery was very very low.

I've uninstalled the last few apps that I installed on the phone, I've switched it off and plugged it into a wall socket. Hopefully this should get it charged and potentially resolve the problem.

Has anyone else had any issues like this and can anyone make any suggestions on what I can do to fix it if what I have tried doesn't work. I'm guessing it is a software issue and that the battery has run down. But if someone knows better, please feel free to chime in.

Thanks for your help in advance.

That seems to be an app acting up, you could repair your phone with PCC or boot on safe mode, if this doesn't occur while on safemode then there's an app acting up, if however you experience the same then it could be a software issue that PCC should fix.

Software issues I can cope with! I don't even mind doing a full reset, I've got everything backed up.

Thanks for the info regarding PCC. I'll give that a try first and see what happens.

Cool. I'll give that a go then. Although I've actually now got a nasty feeling that this is hardware now and that the wierdness in the software is a symptom. I drummed my fingers on the back of the case and it powered off. Repeated a couple of times and it has gone off everytime. Any sort of pressure applied to the rear of the phone makes it turn off 😕

I managed to sit my micro SIM in the slot over the connectors. It's soooo 2008. How did I survive without 4g!

I got my phone in april and this is how my phone started to act and now i cant charge it at all despite using several other charges and trying via laptop and after 3 days getting 7%. Phoned sony and now sending it to them to solve. They sent me a link to update the phone etc but you have to have atleast 50% charge in the phone to complete it lol. It under a 2 year warranty so its going back.
