I have experienced exact same audio drop out problems with Sony Xperia L1 and Pioneer MVH-X560BT. However my Pioneer works flawlessly with Samsung Galaxy and even with Lumia 640 XL.

I have similar compatibility problems with other Sony products as well and I have gave up until now. It's better to avoid Sony if just possible, since they do not give about sh*t about customer experience. This audio drop out problem will propably get never fixed. I have HDMI audio problems with all SONY TV's and one of the models with problematic behavior is very ancient (KDL-40W3000). All the displays works theoretically, but i get invasive OSD messages regularly when audio stops and starts again like in the link below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ysMZWlrmx8&t=5s

Very annoying like this bluetooth sreaming issue with Xperia L1.

I just got a Z3 compact. I switched from a Moto X that did not have any bluetooth issues (which is still in my possession in case I can't fix this).

Anyway, when I connect to my Pioneer MVH-X560BT stereo, music will play but the audio will drop out completely every few minutes. The audio will go out for around a second. It's not lag because the song doesn't also pause when the bluetooth audio drops. After a second audio will return. I have tried many apps (Walkman, Power amp, google play, spotify, etc.) and they all produce the same occasional pause. I have used a few different phones with this stereo and have never experienced this issue.

I bought my Z3c online from someone who had unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom ROM. I found out how to install the stock Sony rom with Emma and thought that would fix my bluetooth issues. It did not. I doubt an unlocked bootloader would affect bluetooth.

I have the exact same problem with my Z3 Compact and Pioneer DEH-X6600BT. It is slowly driving me mad as I've tried factory resetting the phone, Pioneer head unit, etc. It seems there may be an issue with Sony Throw that could be causing this problem, but there is no way to disable this service (shown as 'Devices' in list of running Apps).

If anyone has any ideas, please let us know! This is almost a deal breaker for the phone with the amount of driving that I do. I do love the Z3C but am hoping for a fix in Lollipop or firmware update!

Check the compability chart for your bluetooth device.

My 2 years old car stereo doesn't have the Z3 compact on it's compability chart.

Dont worry. Be happy. My gf bought an xperia z1. The same problem on that one with the bluetooth. A week later i had to send that one at a sony service center. tousch screen unresponsive, and a swollen battery i think, that made the plastic trim near the volume button to bend, leaving a little gap. After a week, the phone was replaced with a new one, apparently. Same s..t with the bluetooth. Another problem now, very low network signal, and oscilating until the point of disconecting a phone call, on 3g, in a place where all my other phones had full signal. Since no one from sony has the decency of answering, i will do my best to share my thoughts about how god sony customer service is. Gsmarena, phonearena and the list goes on. ``We cannot take responsability for 3'rd party equipment. ``????? Dear sony, a motorola razr xt 910, a nokia lumia 920 , a samsung s3, a samsung note 3 and 4 worked as they should, on the ``third party equipment``. You will laugh now, but even my nokia 6233, and my sony ericsson w810i played music flawlessly on the same ``third party equipment``. ``Check the compability chart for your bluetooth device.``Really? Sony, you think i am dum? Z1 is on my list as compatible with pioneer x5600bt, and it DOES NOT WORK!!! 2 xperia z1 and one xperia z3 have the same problem. And i am not the only one with this issue. So, long story short, Sony, you can count on me, a third party equipment user, to tell the word how we should all use only sony products, in order for them to work as they should. By the way. If you read this, and dont have a sony phone, dont buy one. You will be sorry. Do you feel lucky?

I guess that you should ask Pioneer for the same. I'm not saying that Sony is non-guilty here, but sometimes incompatibility happens between different devices. Have you tried on Pioneer forum?

I use Z3 Compact to stream music to Sony TDM-BT1 Bluetooth Receiver (STR-DA3300ES), JBL Horizon speaker and Toyota Touch2 car audio. All work flawlessly, except when high speed WiFi transmission occurs nearby (in 2 - 3 meters) over 2.4 GHz band.

I have just tried my Z3 with a different bluetooth speaker and it works without skipping.

Both my old phone (Samsung) and the Pioneer stereo are bluetooth 3.0; they worked flawlessly together.

Therrefore it now seems to me that the z3 must have a backwards compatibility issue with bluetooth 3.0

Edit: I was unable to overcome the compatibility problem with Sony Z3 compact plus pioneer stereo. I therefore sold the stereo and replaced it with a Kenwood BT53U, which works flawlessly.

Hello,

I have the same problem with my XPeria z3 compact since I upgraded to Android 6.

It randomly disconnects from whatever audio bluetooh receiver it is connected to (reproduced on Volkswagen car audio, Sony DR-BTN200 headphones, avantree saturn apt-x receiver, UE Boom 2 speakers). I have tried to debug the issue, and here is what I found.

I have collected the logcats during the disconnection and I discovered that just before each time the bluetooth disconnects there are two lines concerning "BeaconParser" I think this has to do bluetooth LE.
I am no longer a Sony user. I find unaceptable the lack of respect from Sony, who in 3 years didn't had the time to fix this problem. Z1, z3 compact, z3, three Sony phones with this problem is more than enough for me. A cheaper phone does the job better then those above. Huawei p9 lite user now.
