Hi friends,
I have the following problem. I have Sony Xperia Z (c6603) which I purchase on 07.2013. Two months ago the phone broke in my pocket (Display, touch screen also the back panel - all gorila glass parts :smileyhappy:). Because there is no official service in my town(Plovdiv, Bulgaria) I give the phone to some service here and they changed the broken parts.

Now phone have some other problem: After few (2-3) hours work screen begin to flickr, letters look like they are swimming in water and later part of display turn to black. I am big fan of Sony and have lot of their products (Phones, TVs, Cameras) but I am really in love with this phone and I wonder is there some way to fix this problem or I will have to continue to use Mine Xperia X10. May be later in 2015 will change it with Xperia Z3 but now I dont have this opportunity.

Here some images before the reapar:
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/1.JPG
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/2.JPG

And some images of the new problem:
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/3.JPG - "swimming" letters
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/4.JPG - flickering duplicating content on screen
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/5.JPG
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/6.JPG - problem on edges with white screens
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/7.JPG
http://bgwebdesign.org/xperia/8.JPG - black screen after 3 hours work

The first thing you can do is repair your phone with PCC and see if that helps

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

Alternatives on How to backup Xperias

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/36355

Thaks for the reply @uliwooly but I already try this option (several times). Unfortunately it didn't help. I am not sure that problem is sofware.

Sorry to hear that, then the issue could be the LCD or perhaps a ribbon, I hope it has nothing to do with the motherboard bc that will be way too expensive

Hi guys,

Well your problem lies in not reusing all the foils and flex covers from the original display, flex cables are close together and are creating an interference.

When changing display make sure you do the following:

1. Turn off the phone. VERY IMPORTANT, you can damage the battery by just unplugging it while phone turned on (also LCD). (Hard turn off is with power button + volume up.

2. When disassembling make sure to remember where all the covering foils from flex cables go, do not bend flex cable too much, use common sense and light touch.

3. Do not start the phone before you have all the screws in and DO NOT TIGHTEN TOO MUCH, also back cover should be in place, notice two golden dots on the back plate especially on Sony Xperia series

4. When backlight flickering (strobe like effect) on sides occur even after following steps above, DO NOT PANIC!, turn on a game or any application that won't turn off the display for a few hours, plug the charger in and burn the LEDs on the backlight, as time passes you will see the flickering disappearing slowly, mine was about 2-3 hours

5. Turn off the phone to cool down.

6. Voila

Mine worked this way and just because I panicked I torn away the mic flex and all that was needed was a little bit of patience.

Hope this helps someone.

btw, the pictures above, that is either interference or damaged flex cable, but I believe you just need to put the foils between the flex cables.

why sony doesn't provide serviece to their mobiles which are of no warranty even though customer wants to get it done with the price ??

I think other brands atleast provide service but they charge for it.

is this applicable for all sony products? i am planning for a led tv. so if this is the case, i need to trow it in dust bin if there is any issue after one year.

I ordered my xz 6603 from singapore and 3 weeks later after I did and OTA I had similar problem, I called the supplyer and sent it back for repair I was told it wasnt a hardware problem but that I had installed an incompartible OS version (weird since I did an OTA) but it took 6 months to get my device back, I got it back in Feburary and now thesame problem has occured as i have upgraded to lollipop. I cant wait another 6 months to get the device back again

Sorry guys have bad news for you, that problem with the desync is from the display, i get this from nowere when cruising on the web.

I go to the service and put another motherboard and the display make the same error with that strob efect, ... so the problem is the display, single solution is to replace it.

Hi,

Thanks to Deratizer for this informations.

I have this problem of "swimming letters" , blurred text... since I have changed my xperia Z1 screen. It appears mostly on letters (on home screen) and iis very present on every game on big part of the screen.

I tried to put some copper foils between the flex but no change or maybe a little. I can see that the phoenomen decreases (and sometimes dissapears) when I don't touch the phone, then it comes again simply by touching a little bit the touch screen, so I think their is an inteference between LCD display and touch screen.

But where is it ?? How to fix it ? Did someone found a solution? No information about that issue on web, or I don't know what keywords to use because I'm french...

Hope someone will save us !

Peace

My Sony xperia z is working well but the touch cable. Once i opened the back i found that the yellow/golden cable was spoilt. Is it possible to fix it without changing the screen coz it's quite expensive.
