Passcode forgotten on Z3 Compact

Can someone let me know if its possible to unlock or factory-reset a Z3 Compact with the lock screen password forgotten?
There does not seem to be the option to unlock with a Google Account, and I cannot find a way to reset the phone.

In this case you are going to need to run a firmware repair to remove the lock:

Running the software repair

Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software and install it on your PC.

Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.

Please ensure your phone is powered off and not connected to the PC when you begin this process. You are not required to connect the phone until after step 10.

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps

If you cannot do it, you need to perform a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I have the same problem, ive tried the previous method and nothing works for me. I cant find the PC Companion, its the Xperia Companion that shows and I cant uses it since I forgot my PIN and dont have any access for my phone. Is there any alternative way? IM SO DEPRESSED, PLEASE HELP ME. PLSSSS

I'm trying to perform this on my Dad's phone since he forgot his lock pattern. I just have a couple of questions.

1. Is PC Companion and Xperia Companion the same software being referred to on this process?

2. To peform the repair aside from the phone being turned off, do we also have to make sure the laptop/pc is connected to the internet?

3. If internet is required to complete repair, how much data will be downloaded for the process? This is one of my concern as my network subscription has a 1GB data cap per day. If I exceed that it will downgrade to 2G and that will slowdown the repair process.

my daughter forgot her screen password,,,i hav followed the instruction on xperia companion,,, but it ends to an error shows 'Something went wrong with the software repair
