Software update for xperia z phone

Hey i was going to update my phone software using the sony pc companion. But when i click start update on the computer it says i have to install some compatibility update from microsoft. kb2917929. And also it provides a link to download it.

Although i followed the steps as they have mentioned. i still getting the same message over and over again.

Im using windows 8.1.

What is the reason for this

Btw i heard that it is good if someone can update phone software using pc companion and its safer than updating it through phone directly. Is this true ??

Please give me the reason for top most question as well

So after you download that hotfix,still having issues?

As mentioned in microsoft web , i tried it in two ways. auto installing is not happening. So i tried installing it in mannualy. That is also not possible . it gives a error message.

Its the above error message.

As you posted in the message i tried using update service. And when i tried to download , it says page not found.

Hey mate can i update my phone using my phones update center. I mean using a wfii connection . Update directly using my phone ?? is it a good thing or not

If you have a stable wifi connection,you should try it.It is strange how it won't update...

ok ok thank god i have found sony update service and i installed it. Is this a safe way to update my phone ??

do you think any crashes my occour coz of this stupid windows 8.1

You installed SUS but still giving the problem?The safe way you are talking about is SUS?It is one of the best ways.

No no I havent tried with sony update service. Bt I installed it. Today im gona try it.
One of my friend says update the phone directly through phone is also ok. Is this true?
but I think its good if can update through computer

Btw how would you rate this jelly bean 4.3.3 update? is it a good one?? I have read some review says there is a big problem of discharging the phone battery very fast. Is it true? can I roll back to my factory os if there is a problem because I have backup my phone recently.

I do not have the Z,I have Z1.4.3 is a good update and you cannot say you will have some issues.It is better to update using a computer.

Ok in Sony update service in first steps it says

"make sure your device isnt connected to the computer" What is this ?? how can i update my phone through computer if i cannot connect it to the computer ??

It will ask you to connect at a later point.

I got exactly the same problem (could not uptate neither over pc companion nor wifi), but the SUS Installer solved it.

But Sony PLEASE:

put your Solution Marker to the Answer with the download Link

DO NOT TAKE THE UPGRADE !!!

Whatever you do, stay on 4.3 until there is a fix available. DO NOT GO FOR 4.4 !!

Battery consumption became huge, and battery life (on full power saving) is now less then half.

Using Z1.

Me too thought so. I have read many reviews about this update. All are saying the same thing about this battery problem
