Chrome does not exit

OS is Android 4.4.4 (since yesterday) and Chrome is 35.0.1916.141 (also since yesterday, after the KitKat update). When I want to exit Chrome using the "Back" navigation key (go back to the previous screen) on my phone, Chrome does nothing. So I have to use the "Task" navigation key or "Home" navigation key to get out of Chrome - the "Back" key won't. I checked my File Manager afterwards, it said Chrome was running, but not using any resources. I did a cold start (reboot) on my phone, but everything stayed the same. So it appears that the new version of Chrome cannot exit, but does not keep the processor busy. Is this non-exiting a Chrome feature, a bug or what? How can this be fixed so that the "Back" key will close Chrome?

I suggest you clear data for chrome app and check again.

Please also check on the Playstore for any new updates to the Chrome application that may assist with the stability of this application.

Thanx. Did that, even uninstalled and reinstalled. Chrome still does not exit the "normal" way...

That is very odd; it may be worth looking at running an update/repair though I am hesitant to advise you to do so as it appears almost certainly to be a one off application issue:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

The screen is a bit nervous (it appears that Z1 Compacts have these nervous screens?), but the bottom three keys work fine. So far, Chrome is the only app with the non-exiting problem. It still appears that it doesn't use any resources while in this state, so I will keep the repair option as a last resort.

Do you have glove mode enabled?Try to uninstall latest update for chrome.

No, glove mode is not enabled. From everything I read, it appears that Z1 Compacts have these "nervous" screens. Uninstalling the latest version of Chrome solved the exit problem, so I tend to agree with Sam, it is an application specific problem.
