Well i recieved my z2 yesterday and immediately and possibly stupidly wanted to test the waterproof aspect of it, i dunked it in a bowl of cold water for no more than 30 seconds however i more have moisture in my camera lens. I've let it try and dry out even left it in rice all last night with the flaps open and the moisture is still there, thing is the flaps were sealed properly so i have no idea why this has happened. Just hoping i haven't knacked the phone on the first day if having it, any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks

Sorry to hear that, open all the covers > remove both SIM and SD cards > place your phone inside a bowl with rice and let it sit for 1 or 2 days

I have the exact same problem. I did not even submerge the phone. I just washed it under a very gentle beam. All flaps were closed, and there are no signs of water intrusion or malfunction aside from moisture within the lens.

I wouldn't bother trying to dry the phone out. Just return it for a replacement. After all one of it's key features is that it it IP58 rated and if it fails a small dunk or gentle wash then the phone is defective.

A kudos to Sony. I had the same issue as the OP, but had taken a video of my testing the phone in water that proved that I had the hatches closed and showed where the leak was. After some issues getting the paperwork to send it in, I had a replacement unit within a few days. Tested it and so far so good. Thanks Sony!

I purchased a Z2 yesterday specifically because of the water proofing they advertise, also stating you can take photo's underwater.

Well, a nice cooling dip in the jacuzzi (set temp lower so it cools me down rather than hot in the weather we've been having!) yesterday while reading & surfing. I then noticed the camera fogging up, so put it on the side. When I get out - the phone is totally dead and won't turn on.

So within 5 hours of a brand new phone, advertised to be waterproof and its dead.

I actually purchased two phones yesterday, one for the wife as well. So want to get hers tested and mine replaced urgently.

I've emailed the support team, and will call the shop today as well. But overall I'm really disappointed to find this.

Hi Sam
Got call yesterday from service center (TECHNO care) official SONY representative in UAE to collect phone, phone collected and they charged 27 USD as they changed front camera ( do not know why ) and updates software.

But they did not do any waterproof test as they do not have this machine to perform test. In this case how they can proof that it is user fault not manufacture? And they told that they could not guaranty that it will happen again.

And phone get warm ,when you records 4K video more than 40 seconds

Very sad to be disappointed on SONY phones, matter not in money, I just disappointed in brand.

Will try to sell phone for cheaper price and get other brand

I have also had this problem here in the Uk, got my z2 last week, mainly for its camera, and it's water proof rating.

So excited, I wanted to show both these features to my work colleagues, and i put the phone in a bowl of water.

Not long after the phone shut down and wouldn't turn on, it's not back on, but both front and back cameras are full of moisture.

Both flaps were tightly sealed, so I'm a little miffed by how this has happened.

Disappointed with how quickly, what I saw as a main feature of this phone, has proven to be near on non existent.

I took a chance on switching from another phone brand, for the first time in years, just for this phone.

now I'm not sure if it's better to cut my loses and switch back.
