problem with the power button on Xperia z

Sometimes when the phone is on standby mode I press the power button and it doesn't response, that is I have to press it 3-4 times in a row in order tov enter the home screen? I have noticed it the last days especially after the 4.3 update.
Any suggestion?

Is something lagging your phone?task killers or battery savers?

It could be a hardware problem, have you use the phone underwater?

No never used it underwater. Also I don't have any Task killer. I definitely noticed this bug after the latest update, so I am curious whether this is a general problem or something that some phones face (in a random way)

I haven't encountered this on my Xperia Z, how about if you reinstall the latest update and check again?

Suppose I have to try to re install the update though I have already read other posts in that forum with people that face the same kind of problem.

Its a known problem with the 4.3 update. I also have it (among the wifi/bluetooth problem)

Hi,

For the last few days my Xperia Z is behaving strangely....

1. All of a sudden my on / off switch is not working

2. Applications like - Albums, Navigation, Maps are not working - msg showing ---- "Unfortunaley, Album Has Stopped.... Ok".. in most applications this is happening

I thought there might be some software goofup so I upgraded to the lates version.

I have the same problem on my new xperia z1 compact. Unresponsive after lock screen. Need to press the power button 3 to 14 times before screen lights up again.

I have Z1 compact and is under a week old and suddenly my power button is playing up in the ssme way...i have to push it at least 4-5 times before anything show's up?! What's the resolution Sony?

I got my Z1 compact on 31/01/14, and this problem started a few days ago. This morning I had to press the power button 25 times before the screen lit up. Have looked at the "troubleshooting" page for this issue and the only advice Sony seem to give is to make sure you have enough battery power.... this problem is occurring whether my battery is full or not, also I expect to be able to use an extremely basic function on my phone even when it's got a low battery.

I'm also having issues when picking up calls, I slide to answer and the screen freezes. Anyone else with this issue too? I'm going away for a few days and was hoping to use the phone as my camera. As soon as I get back I'm going in for a replacement.

Any real help with these problems would be really appreciated, to save me the hassle

I am also experiencing this issue after I updated the phone.
I have been offshore for a longer period off time and applied to new SW updates to the phone, and after that the phone is impossible to unlock..

Has anyone got any new information regarding this?

My new xperia z is also exhibiting issues with the power button not responding.

then it died completely.

all I had done since recieving the phone is to restore my data and apps (and installing previous xperia Z's SD card) and updating the software. - this is really annoying as the phone should be (and perform) identical. especially as it takes some time to restore and reconfigure phone set up (e.g. sync with google account etc.) -I had my previous xperia Z for 12 months until a hairline crack appeared on screen rendering touch screen non-responsive.

only recoverable once the battery went completely flat and I then charged; I can now at least start the phone byt the power button is still tempramental (nees multiple presses before turning on)

I can sometimes see a slight flicker / change of screen tone on the a press of the power button, so it is acknowledging the press just not turning on (so I deduce not a hardwrae issue).

just now tried (whilst on charge) to turn on - with no joy - only then turned on when I disconnected from charger - all pretty random. -I will try resetting the software via pc companion as a last ditched attempt - if it still has issues I think it will have to go back to sony
