Problems with Xperia with facebook

Hi folks

I can't get my brand new Z1 compact to add xperia with facebook as an account.

I click on the add account and it takes me to a page saying that xperia would like to use facebook email, messages etc. I click OK and then it just takes me back to the same settings page and no account added.

The same thing happens with my google calendar- I want to use my facebook birthdays etc but I go through the whole same scenario as above for adding an account to my calendar.

I'm just new to this phone so I always assume it's me doing something stupid.

Hope someone can help.

I was literally just about to post the same problem. I don't think you did anything wrong, as I'm seeing exactly the same behaviour with the setup of "Xperia with Facebook". Xperia with Flickr worked as expected, but no matter what I do, I can't get the Xperia with Facebook account to be created.

Here's a list of things I tried (without any success):

- Deleted the Facebook account

- Deinstalled the Facebook updates

- Cleared all Facebook data

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have tested this on a unit here and it appears to be working ok. With this being the case and given what you have tried so far I can really only advise trying a software repair:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

I believe it may be a problem with facebook setting\privacy.

For example I bought two similar xperia z1 compact black. After hard reset I did the same steps on two phones, but used two different FB accounts. One worked, other don't (returned to the menu after confirming that xperia would like to use facebook email, messages etc).

Please comment on this issue.

Thanks for this , Sam. I tried all you suggested but it didn't work. Took ages!

Am at a loss! It worked fine with Flickr. Can't see any security issues on my facebook account.

I also can't see any reasonable differences between two FB account that I used for testing.

But still hope that solution will be found soon ^)

In my case, solution was installing facebook messenger. After that, xperia with facebook finally works!

I'd also like to point out that it appears to continue working even after uninstalling Facebook Messenger again. I don't need yet another messenger running in the background.

I don't think this is really fixed the Facebook integration should work as a standalone account. What if I want to access Facebook trough the Web interface or don't want to install another messaging application in both cases the application won't work and it really should. So plase unmark the answer in this threat as the problem is not really fixed.

I have Sony Xperia Z1. I recently updated lollipop. But Xperia with Facebook is not working. I have installed messenger. I have updated software by computer also. but not working.

I had messenger already installed on the tablet but videos on fb never worked. I didn't uninstall faceball, i simply uninstalled messemger and reinstalled it from playstore and now videos are magically working. Don't know if it will last but for now they are working.

I couldn't open Facebook. Everytime I open it always not working or not responding text come out.
