Is this a problem with the software or a hardware flaw with the camera/flash proximity to each other and the chrome rim around the lens.this is on both our z1 phones my wife has a white one and I a black one. The red inference on the left side is not common just bad lighting. When I say the right side it would be on the bottom side for portrait photos

I thought this myself because I was having the same problem and I was using the roxfit cover but have since removed it.

I had the similar problems too with my Xperia Z there's light reflection from the flash of the phone on the taken photo too and Xperia Z1 i haven tested yet due send to warranty:smileyworried:....but i don't really know the cause of it because sometimes it doesn't have that problem even using protective case with/without it and sometimes it works fine....it could be the holding position/environment/other causes...still need wait for the who expert in shooting camera/Sony staff to do the real test on it and confirm the problem...

Uliwooly is correct; I have been able to replicate this by taking a photo in poor light normally and then taking another one with my finger overlapping the phone near the flash/lens. With this being the case please rule out the possibilities outlined above by Uliwooly.

I can concur with the previous 2 posts that the issue is not with the phone but with the holding of the phone. I took pictures in low light and the flash reflected off my finger back onto the lens, even though my finger was not in front of the lens, I then took the same picture holding the phone by my finger nails and there was no interference. It just means that now i will have to hold the phone by the edges (slightly uncomfortable with the phone being so thin) Thanks for the input i couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was but discussing it here helped. It seems so trivial now but thanks guys.
