It does not matter, you need to repair actual software, not update.Remember that if you repair, you have to backup your important data on the phone. If you do not want to repair,I suggest you take the phone into service.

my sony z1 was working fine until last night but it no longer appears to recognise my sim card after i swapped it into another phone then put back in and says 'no service'. ive tried 2 different sim cards which both work fine in other phones but no luck. ive also tried turning the phone off/on many times.i click call settings then additional settings, it says network or sim card error. anyone know how to fix it? thanks

You can try to force shutdown the phone(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates). If not working, repair phone software with sony update service.
