Hi guys. Same problem with my xperia z. I read the solution about connecting it to a wallet charger etccc. Is it normal that no led light? Do I continue to wait the hour? Or it is useless?

Hi there

Bought an Xperia Z about a month ago. Had slight lag issues but nothing too serious.

My phone ran down and the battery died two days ago. I put it on the charge (its been on the charge pretty much ever since) with the red LED lit up. LED turns off completely when unplugged.

Phone will not turn on at all; have tried all of the manual resets (holding power button and volume button etc); have read these forums and searched the web for a solution to no avail. PC doesn't recognise the phone so can't reset it via PC Companion. Basically, I have an $800 unresponsive brick.

Very very disappointed to say the least. Phone was very well looked after, and to have it die simply because the battery ran down is extremely worrying. I've seen that this issue is very common yet there doesn't seem to be any definitive fix for it whatsoever.

Any help that anyone can give me would be really appreciated

Please try following these specific steps to run a repair. It will be connecting to the PC in a different way than normal so should still work:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

Hi Fundars and Sam,

Fundars - I am having exactly the same problem with my Xperia Z and recieved exactly the same advice as Sam provided.

And, of course, I had exactly the same experience as you - where I followed the steps and my PC doesn't recognise my phone. It also has a red light when it's plugged in.

It has been charging all day but is completely unresponsive. Some forums suggest that when I hold down the power button and the volume up button that the phone vibrates, however mine does not, the red light just flashes.

When I press the power button for about three seconds the red light flashes three times.

This began immediately when I installed the latest software update onto the phone yesterday.

I look forward to a solution.

Regards,

Alison

Firstly, please ensure that you leave the handset on charge for a good hour or so to ensure it has charge, then when you get to the connection step please ensure you are holding the volume down button after you have connected the handset or the drivers wont install for the flash device.

howdy - just to let anyone who looks at this know, i called sony again today (thank goodness for skype) and explained that the problem was persisting and now they are arranging for me to post the phone to their repair centre. so. not looking like there are any self-fixes for this problem. cheers.

Hi Sam

As I mentioned, the phone was on the charge for almost a full 48 hours, so there shouldnt be any issues there.

I followed all the steps (including holding down the volume down button) already, again as I've already pointed out.

Basically it has gotten to the stage where I have taken my phone back to the retailer in an effort to at least get a replacement phone. but in light of all this, I would much rather a refund, given the chances that it will likely happen again

Ok don't let your phone to discharge completely!!!!!! You neede to send it to service it takes them less than five minutes and it's no need to open the phone (I don't know how they do it, I think the battery receives a shock). They gave me the phone and I just plugged it to a wall charger let it an hour and then I just started it normally. It will show the Sony logo after few minutes you charge it. I have noticed that if the phone doesn't start it makes a clicking sound (relay I think)

I'm having this same problem, except my phone had more than half a charge when it when black screen and won't start up again. I put it on a few different chargers and cables so that isn't the problem, also tried the computer with the software installed it won't recognise the phone. When i hold down the power button and the volume up button it just blinks the red led once like the others have said no vibration. When i plug it in the charger or computer it does the same thing just blinks the led once. I seen the one post showing to hold the volume down button and plug it into the computer for update i have yet to try it so ill keep my fingers crossed but doesn't sound like that is going to work either when i get home ill try that. I have a bunch of very important information and pictures on my device and don't want another one i want this one to work, or be able to atleast transfer the information to another device, right now it just seams like a fancy blinking paperweight, i cannot even access the phones memory, Phone is 4 months old, very disappointing.
