Experia Z1 not charging

I have a new Experia Z1 (3 days old). However, it has stopped charging. I have swapped USB charging cables, re-booted and now I am out of ideas. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what I should do, or has the device suffered a hardware failure.

(when connected via USB to PC it does not charge either).

I had a similar issue with my Xperia Z few weeks ago.

connect your xperia to a wall charger > press and hold power & volume up for 5 seconds > leave it charging for 1 hour even if you don't see any sign of charging > after one hour repair the phone with SUS

install SUS > restart your PC > run SUS > follow the steps > connect your phone to the PC > press and hold power & volume up once the phone vibrates release both keys and only press and hold volume down

Hi Uliwooly - thank you for that! Pressing the power button and volume up for 5 seconds did seem to kick it out of its comatose state. At least now it says it is charging. Thank you for your help.:smileywin:

Anytime, its a good idea to repair the phone as soon as the battery its at least at 50%

Hi all,

I have the same problem, i have done the same instruction, Pressing On/off button with up volume and its vibrate, i have done update software from 4.2.2 to 4.3 , i have done everything as it suggested here, but the problem still happen.

BATERY Still Drain quickly, when i charge, no flash sign, sometime it shown then gone,

is my battery dead, or what. Just bought it nov 1st 2013. Pleeease help meeee

Greetings,
I bought my Z1 last November of 2013. Last night I charged my phone however it's stucked to 1%. I tried the smartphone of my wife and the charger works. So I went to this forum to get some ideas. So far, I tried turning off and on the device, pressing the power and the up volume for 5 seconds. The latter made it vibrate but the issue still remains. It has been plugged for more than 5 hours now and it does not show that it is charging. I hope I could get a response before I travel 25kms to the nearest service center not failing to mention the heavy traffic in the metro. Thank you fellow Z1ners.

The solution of holding the upper volume and power button for 5 seconds worked for me. Thanks!

I had to power of my phone a few times afterwards before I saw it charging when I plugged it in.

My XPERIA Z1 is 7 days old and its not charging fastly...its taking 12hrs to reach 80%....and its goes down very soon after just checking the msgs .....and sometime the charging stucks.i never had my phone charged 100% even after cahrging for 12 staright hrs..i dont know wat to do .........i saved the money for a year to get this phone nw i m faing this problem....PLS SOME ONE HELP ME.....if any one facing this problem and sloved it pls let me knw ........many thnaks

Connect to wall socket,force shutdown(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates 3 times).Turn it on normally after and let it charge until 100%.

How about if you try my upper suggestion?Connect to wall socket and force restart(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates once) or force shutdown(same procedure until the phone vibrates 3 times).

I had same problems, just bought 2 weeks from sony center ( 98 Hoang quoc viet, Ha noi, VietNam) I try press power and volume up 5s for force shutdown to changing battery but not working, Factory reset not working too, huhu,

oday i suffred the same problem,however it was resolved by pressing the volume up + power button simultaneously.

But i am here to know the reason behind this,is it anything serious?should I get my phone checked in the service centre.

Please reply if know the answer.I am a little worried as my phone is hardly 2weeks old

Thanks a lot, the power nd volume button trick worked for me.. Also my Z1's gravity sensor, which was not working for some time, started working!
