Hi

I'm reading all the "solutions" to what seems an ever increasing problem with Sony phones.. First led charging light stopped working, speakerphone while on call stopped working then battery started going stupid, dropping charge from 98 down to 20 etc, plugging back in then going back up to 98.. Then the fun really started with phone just turning off.. No matter what you do can't turn it back on unless it's being charged.. Tried power/volume buttons. Tried the yellow button near sim card. Got a new sim,got a new sd card. Got a new Sony battery installed. Installed pc companion on pc,backed up everything then tried software "repair".. Set the phone back up, things looking good for about half hour.. Now it just switches off again whenever it wants.. Phone is near full charge... I'm so frustrated with this piece of junk phone.. Why didn't Sony send through some kind of update to fix what is obviously a very common problem.. This had been going on for years by the look of these threads

I suggest you to check your source of power is established well while charging or not aslo check cables and everything could make the charger randomly plug in and out... Make sure your phone charger is not pluging in and out during recharge. Because it causes the mobile to get a fake charge status... This causes the mobile turn off...

Thanks for reply

That is not the problem.. The phone is charging fine.. The lightning bolt is on in the battery status. I check it regularly whilst its charging. The phone just shutsdown! The only way I can turn it back on is to plug it back in.. ( to charger or power bank) when it comes back on the battery level is the same as when it went off..weird thing is the date though.. That is set to 1st January 1970...

Based on the screen shots it does look like you have to charge it before turning it on, but I just want to make sure that is the case.

When the device has powered off, open the cover for the SIM and SD card slot and press and hold the OFF button with the tip of a pen until you get three short vibrations and then charge your device to full when it's powered off.

Let me know how it goes!

Regarding the process Ihave 2 questions to ask you

1) Do I need to remove the sim card tray and sd card for the data safety.

2) After the process when the device is being charged should I let it remain in Power Off mode and let it charge until its full or I can power on again and let it charge and work as usual.

I am going to do What you have suggested but I want you to know that I have already did the Software repair using PC Companiom, but the problem remains same

Hey guys, so i have a sony xperia z5 and i had some couple of problems here and there with the phone but today my phone has just gone crazy. It is shutting itself down like 10 times in an hour and then just wont get turned on anymore unless i plug it to the charger. So i guess battery is kinda donezo? can anybody confirm this? or give me some advice to what i can do to solve this problem?

EDIT: Okay guys if you are still reading this, i couldnt fix this problem without getting a new battery. So i ordered one on amazon for like 13€ and replaced with my old one. Its now a lot better. No more shut downs and stuff. Eventhough i still use up quite a bit of battery, it is so much better than it was before. 😛

Hi again @RohitKM, sorry for the late reply.

The next step is to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion, this will tell us if this is related to the software in the device or not, as this will delete all data from the device and reinstall the latest available update.

As all data is being removed, it's important that you create a backup before you start with the repair process.

In case you still experience the same behaviour even after the software repair has been completed, your device will need to be examined by a trained technician at one of our authorized service centres and since all service cases are handled at a local level, get in touch with your Local support team and they will assist you further with this.

@Deebee72, I can see that you experience as similar behaviour in the other thread you posted in, could you also try the troubleshooting steps and see if that helps?

@igniel, you are correct. In these type of cases where the device shuts down and can't be powered on unless you connect it to a charger, it could be the battery (or other mechanical parts) or the software that is the cause.

Keep me posted!
