Have you tried the easiest method.....settings >backup and reset>factory data reset?

If that doesnt work try rebooting in safe mode...when you get the switch off popup by pressing the on/off switch, press and hold power off and another popup will ask if you want to restart in safe mode, then have a play around and see if numbers work etc etc

I have a problem with my Z3 which is not responding to the numbers 7 and 8 in my PIN security code. I have tried a factory reset with the power and Vol up/down keys but it just restarts the phone continually. and won't go to the reset menu.
I have tried a software repair with Companion but that downloads the O/S, asks me to hold down the vol down button while reconnecting and nothing happens.
I have tried pressing down the yellow button by the SIM card but nothing happens. What do you suggest?

Unfortunately, the fact that part of the touchscreen is unresponsive means that I can't login to my phone using the default keyboard in order to do a factory reset. However, I learnt from Sony that a USB to microUSB converter enables a mouse to be plugged into the phone. I just happened to have one handy so I could bypass the keyboard and do the reset that way.

Has anyone had a similar fault with the touchscreen?
