Every time my Z1 compact (5.1.1) is switched off or rebooted I get the message above. It then takes several restarts, and pulling out and reinserting the SIM - can be several hours - before it again starts to recognise the SIM . The SIM works in other phones fine.

Is there any way I can avoid this problem?

Thanks

Hi @Siboli, sorry to hear about this.

Is this something that you have started to experience very recently or has it been ongoing for a while?

Have you had the opportunity to try a different SIM card in your device? If you haven't done that, I would recommend doing so, so we can make sure that it's not a combination of the SIM card you have and your device. If you don't have a second SIM at hand, you can may be ask a colleague, friend or family member if you can borrow theirs for a short while.

Let me know if that helps!

Hi again and sorry for my late reply, I have been on a shorter vacation!

I'm glad to hear that it's working fine with another SIM card and as you said, it does seem like you will need yet another SIM card from your operator, so please get in touch with them and ask them to send you a new one, or if you have a store nearby where you can pick up a new one from.

Please keep me posted with how it works with your new SIM card and have a nice day!

I put a new SIM in and for a few minutes it worked but then said "no SIM NO service" I have restarted few times and it's still not working. I've tried removing and replacing the SIM and am getting the same error.

Hi again, very sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this behaviour.

Is the other SIM card still working fine (the one from a different operator), or do you experience the same behaviour that the connection to the SIM card is lost after a few minutes? If you don't it sounds very strange that this only would occur with a SIM card from your operator and not from others.

If it does not work with the other SIM card, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a complete reinstall of the Android system. Do note that it will in the same process delete all data stored on the internal storage of the device, so it is advised that you create a backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi again, very sorry for the late reply!

In this case, I'd recommend that you get in touch with your Local support team so they can assist you with having your device examined by a technician at an authorized service centre. If you have any questions regarding warranty, local service routines and consumer laws in your market, they will gladly assist you with this and will be able to provide a more detailed answer than I can as these vary between different markets/regions.

Feel free to keep me posted!
