Hey all,

My Z5 compact's screen cracked and became unsresponsive, I've attempted to access the device using a USB OTG but I need access the phone settings to allow this to interface with the phone in the first place - so I'm locked out. Android phone transfer is useless as well as it will only access the files if the screen is unlocked.

Any alternatives out there?

Sorry, I had this problem, too and I don't think it's possible. Found a reply in another thread that said that you won't be able to transfer files if the screen is cracked.

I've used the OTG adaptor to use a mouse and backup as much as I can through Google (which backsups apps setting etc) and my One Drive (photos & music files). If I had a new phone I think I would be able to use the Xperia Transfer app (unfortunately my insurance company courier the new phone and collect the old phone at the same time so I won't have them together long enough to use them together!).

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-backup-and-restore-your-files-using-Xperia-Companion/m-p/1117112

I love my Xperia phones, but this is the second time that I've had this problem and it's very frustrating. It's a shame that Companion doesn't have some kind of override as by the looks of this forum, it's not an uncommon issue...
