Hi, just got the Xperia Z1 I applied immediately Cover of Plastic, supplied in the box with Sony. I made sure to remove all the dust, but as I see it has been a while, and I only noticed after applying the cover.

Now my question is: Can I Remove the Plastic Cover provided by Sony?

Void the Warranty?

How can I fix?

I purchased the Smartphone Z1 from Amazon.co.uk, but I'm living in Italy. There is a safe way to proceed in these cases? The Sony logo on the front will come off if I remove the plastic cover?

The problem is quite annoying when I read in the sun or in the evening in browser with white background.

I am attaching explanatory photos.

http://imageshack.us/a/img13/2618/f6go.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img39/8528/b6k3.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img198/7883/i425.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img855/5060/2scn.jpg
http://imageshack.us/a/img690/2157/6guw.jpg

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Salvo.. simple question.. you said you put on a cover of plastic i.e. a screen protector on top of the screen. Now if there is dust under this screen protector and you remove it then you do not void your warranty... however, if you didnt apply something new and the dust is indeed under the original protector with the sony logo (I dont think this is easy to achieve anywy) then removing the screen protector with the sony logo will void your warranty.

Its rather simple if you have put on an additional screen protector like you said... If so just peel it off....

Thank you for that, keep in mind that you can not replace the ASF (anti shatter film) as this will remove the Sony logo and will void the screen's warranty. The ASF its not sold separately

If I understand correctly, you applied the screen protector that was supplied in the Xperia Z1 box to the phone? This means that you have applied the screen protector on-top of the ASF, which is correct.

As you may not be aware, the Xperia Z1 comes pre-nstalled with an Anti-Shatter Film (ASF) that holds the Sony logo, if this is ASF is removed then the warranty (whatever that is) would be void.

The dust must (ha ha) be between the ASF and the screen protector.

If you remove the provided screen protector, leaving the ASF in place you will not void your warranty. If you do remove the screen protector, be sure the ASF stays in place (not sure how easy that is).

Hey there!

I can tell by looking at the pictures that your phone has the stock screen protector applied to it already, which we already know. It's a plastic, transparent cover, which has cutouts for the camera and sensor. The embedded sony protector is much harder to remove than this one. Removing this one does not void warranty. You are free to buy new ones and change them as much as you want.

You have nothing to worry about! I had the same problem... Applied the plastic cover and it fit perfectly, with no bubbles or anything. After a few hours I noticed that there is a veeery small, thin piece of dust. It was a terrible thing to see.
What I did was to cut out small pieces of ducktape and line them up on my desk, ready to be picked up. I was very careful, trying not to bring up any dust from the ground. I then removed the plastic phone cover ( the one which has the cutouts for camera and sensor, very easy to remove if you push it on the side a bit) and started using the ducktape to pick off the dust. I basically grabbed the pieces of tape so that the glue part was facing whatever my finger was facing. Make sure to bring up phone brightness to 100% and to make the phone stay awake for at least 10 minutes, just to be safe. Bring up an app which is almost or fully white - this will help you see the dust on the protector against the light. Then carefully use the duck tape to tap on the dust, until it stucks to the tape. I did this for a few minutes and it was almost impossible to remove ALL the dust. I think there might be one or two little pieces left on mine, but nothing you will ever notice. Took me some concentration and patience, but I'm happy with the result.

This may sound a bit silly but did you remove the top protective cover from the sony film you applied ?

No, I did not remove the ASF Cover, and I did not think there were any other cover on Xperia Z1.

I applied the protective cover, container packed with the Xperia z1, thinking it was the one, the only plastic cover from Sony.

As far as I see and read, and as I also said Sony Support by phone, the cover that I applied, it is a Second Cover!

The first was applied hot in Factory, and is not easily removable.

However it is not silly your question
