You should receive a pop up on the display of your Z5 Compact as you connect it to the computer where you may choose a USB mode - choose MTP here.

In addition, have you had the chance to try different USB ports on your computer? Do you also have Xperia Companion installed on your computer?

Let me know how it went!

I see, that sounds strange. Did you make sure to unlock the screen lock of your device if you have one?

Could you try reinstalling the drivers for the device to see if that helps? If you got a Windows based computer, you may do so by connecting your device to your computer, then open the explorer on your computer (Windows- + E key simultaneously). Here, right click on "My computer" in the left tab and choose "Manage" - in the window which appears find and choose Device manager. Find your device in the list and right click it > Choose "Uninstall". Now disconnect and reconnect your phone.

Can you now see the files?

you can try the following (worked for me, win10):

(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.

Please, i need help with this issue. For me the 2 most important things for a smart phone are photos and phone function. Without having access to the photos it is not useful to make photos with the smart phone. I have access to all other folders when i connect phone via USB, only the DCIM folder is empty and i don't have access to the photos. I changed from samsung to sony because i thougth sony is the better product, but now i can't use the phone in normal way. Befor i did the softwareupdate to android 7.0 everything was ok. But since the softwareupdate i don't have access to the photos.

Storage for photos is /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/100ANDRO

I changed a long time ago from external to internal storage. So photos should be stored under internal storage\DCIM, or am i wrong?
