Google maps keeps sending start driving messages and saving to my phone

Hi,

I used google maps a few weeks ago to navigate myself somewhere on foot which worked fine, however since doing this I keep getting notifications to start driving which goes to my smart watch. I have also noticed it keeps savingGoogle map icons on one of my phone screens, I can delete them but they start appearing again.

I have been into the maps application and it isn't navigating anywhere so it is like it is tracking me and saving my routes.

I have rebooted the phone and looked in settings.

Any ideas?

Hi @Wavemachine,

Welcome to the community.

You can access the notification settings for Google Maps if you go to: Maps > Tap the 3 lines > Settings > Notifications. Here you can disable the notifications you don't want.

For when it comes to the new icons that gets created on your home screen, I recommend that your reset your Maps app. To do so go to: Settings > Apps > Maps > Storage > Clear data > Ok. It is then recommended that you restart your device before opening the app again. Note that this will completely reset your app, deleting any personal information you may have stored in the app.

Many thanks for the reply, I didn't find any notification setting that were switched on so it was a bit strange I was still getting them. However I have deleted the app data for maps and have driven home without any notifications or file being put on my device.
