Hi Folks,

I smashed the touchscreen on my z3 compact and now have replaced it with a z5. I'd like to transfer the contnt from by old phone to the new but busted screen means i can't unlock it, let alone access Transfer App. Haven't made a backup online. Any ideas how to work around this problem?

Hi @Bigs,

Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this.

You can use an OTG cable and a corded mouse to navigate your broken phone.

How much functionality does the screen have? Or is it a case of shards of glass in your finger on use?

the screen has a few small functional areas but (for instance), I can't access the 9-point pattern to enter my code. Probably couldnt enter the swipe code anyway. My computer (mac) recognises the phone (via usb) but it needs me to unlock it before i can use any program to transfer.

Ok, interesting. So can i use a mouse to enter my swipe code for unlocking the phone?

You sure can Just make sure it's a corded mouse. I don't think wireless mice work with OTG.

Ok, I'm planning to do this. Have found OTG cables hard to get hold of. Will let you know if this works.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and found this thread while searching for a solution on the following problem.
A local store destroyed the connector from the panel to the motherboard on my xperia z5compact. I got a new phone as a compensation and now need to move files from the old one to the new one via my pc.
The problem is that the panel and the rest of the phone/motherboard/disc etc has no physical connection, the two sections are totally separated.
When connecting the unit with the USB-cord to my computer nothing happens. When pushing the on/off-button nothing happens.
What I look for is a way to be able to copy files from the phones memory to my pc for backup.
I really need help how to solve this - thanks in advance!
