Sony Xperia Z5 Finger Print Scanner stopped working

Since the kast update the option of fingerprint lock has disappeared.. There is no more option to unlock the phone by fingerprint..plz resolve this problem one doesnt buy such an expensive phone to face these issues a thing which was inbuilt in the phone should not disappear like this

can you check if it is present while you are on safe mode?

otherwise. try to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion

Hi @Vartika,

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear this. I recommend that you try and temporarily delete any stored fingerprints in your device. To do so go to: Settings > Lock screen & security > Fingerprint Manager > Tap a stored fingerprint > Delete. Then try to re-add a new fingerprint.

I'd also recommend that you try and reboot your device to safe mode to see if this behavior is caused by one of your downloaded apps as these will be disabled in this mode.

Hello. I updated to 7.0 and now fingerprints disappeared from the settings. Any solution?

After Nougat update on E6853 the finger print reader sometimes stops (message: finger print hardware unavailable). A reboot seems to fix the problem for a couple of days.

@Carneiro, If it's still the same after in safe mode, I recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion on your device.

If you are are still experiencing the same behavior after that. I suggest you get in contact with your Local support team for assistance with having your device sent in to an authorized service center.

@KimJ, How often do you have to restart your device for it to work? Have you tried to do a software repair using Xperia Companion as well if not I recommend that you try that.

At least once a week the reader stops.

So far I've factory reset twice and used the software repair once.

I tried to unlock my phone as usual, but it says "fingerprint hardware is disable" something like that.. And i tried restart my phone, but unfortunately, there is no sign of fingerprint features anymore and its totally missing even in the security setting..

Have your tried the troubleshooting suggested in this thread? If not I would recommend that you do so and get back with the results.

My problem solved.. Try pinch the red circle area back to back of your phone while try press the side button.. Seems like the ribbon connector is loose inside.. The fingerprint function will be back after a few days, if u success pinch your phone.. Good luck..
