SD transfer from internal memory?

I can't seem to find the option in the storage menu to transfer contents from internal memory into SD card ,as I was so much used to with my former XZ premium.

Where did that option go ? How am I supposed to transfer files from the phone into my card without that option without using third party apps?

App Tray - Files - hamburger icon in top right corner, select the phone(for example J8110), which opens the root of your phone.

Then just look around for your files and "Move" them, either singly or in batches.(selectable by the menu in the top right of the screen.

Or storage - Internal Shared Storage - pick a section, and then it'll open the Files app, and just follow the information above.

You MUST agree that this is NOT a straightforward solution and it's at least weird.

One more:

Consider installing the Files app.

Give it permissions and it well help you keep your device tidy and swift.

It gives you tips once in a while.

It also has an option where it suggests to move files to SD.

@ Strampke,

The Files app that's already installed on the phone does exactly the same as that after market app from Google.

Between "Storage" and "Files" on the Xperia 1, there is absolutely no need for that app to be installed.

There's no automation on that app, and the inbuilt app also comes with a "storage nearly full, would you like to clean up" warning like that app.

You can share files, send files, clean up files move files, etc..

are you able to do this to move apps to SD card?

They basically took away the option to move app (that's able to) to SD card?

No, unless an app has that specifically, you can't.

To check, go into Settings - Apps & Notifications, pick the app you want to check, and if it has a move to SD card, or move to external setting, then you can.

Probably reasoning is that sometimes SD cards are slower than the phones RAM, and it can cause issues like stuttering, slow loading, etc, and TBH, with the amount of storage phones have now, it's a moot point.

For instance, I have 226 apps installed on my phone, and am sitting at around 75gb free.

I use the SD card for music, videos, and photos, emulated retro systems(their data can take up a lot), so that takes a load off, as my phone would be full twice if it was all on the phone.
