Screen turns on automatically when pulling from a pocket

F5321 Xperia X Compact, Android 8.0.0, patch level "June 1, 2018"

Is there a way to disable automatic "smart" screen turning on when phone pulled from a pocket or rised from a table? If I understand correctly, this is some "smart" feture predicting that you are picking the phone and about to turn it on, so it turns on for you

If I'm not mistaken, this is started ufter I upgarded to Android 8

This is very annoying and I want to disable this feature. Please, how to do that?

I'm just giving a hint, I don't have an X Compact at the moment. But I remember that "Double tap to wake" was sometimes too sensitive to bring my old X to wake in similar activities like getting it out of the pocket.

When I take my phone from the table - it also turns on, but I'm sure I'm not touching or tapping the screen. It looks to be related to "Ambient Display" and/or "Lift to Check Phone" android features, but Sony may simply not included settings to disable them, because I can't find them

The "double tap to activate" on my old Z3 Compact caused sometimes an unwanted activation when the phone was still in my pocket, or when I took it out of my pocket. The "quick camera start" from the lock screen had similar unwanted behaviour. I have never used these options since, and also disabled them from the beginning on my X Compact.

However, I never noticed the phone was activated when lifting it from the table.

I have an XZ2c and if I move the phone the screen lights up. So, for example when I go jogging the screen is lit constantly (consuming battery). I believe this nice feature is called ‘Lift to Check Phone’ but I can’t find any way to disable it. Normally it should be in settings->moves but my sony has no such category.

Its in settings -> display and its called 'lift to check device'

Did you uncheck glove mode?
