Reverts to default ringtone by itself

I added my own ringtone when I got the phone, and occasionally the phone decides it would rather use the default ringtone. I'll change it back a few times and finally it stays on the one I want. Why does it do this? Is there a way to stop it from having these spells?

No, I put it in the ringtones folder in internal storage.

I'll have to say this is really tiresome. I tried another ringtone, one that came with the phone, not one that I added, and that one didn't stick either. So now I wonder, is it possible to remove the Xperia ringtone? It doesn't appear in the ringtones folder.

yes, it is possible. try to change the ringtone from safe mode, maybe you have an app interfering.
