Okay, I have hard time recovering the firmware.
Clean firmware.
Well, fast overheating did not go anywhere, at 7.1 it was warming more slowly

I have problems after update to 8.0, too. Phone is lagging, reacts often slowly.

The uliwooly suggested restoring the device, some of them left me, but the general lethargy and overheating remained. Maybe you're more lucky.
