Ok, thank you Sony for this now recurrent uselessness when it comes to help your users. I already did my best in the past to document, describe and follow the answers regarding a very annoying bluetooth bug with a previous android update. Beside "please update with "PC(/Xperia) Companion", "please factory reset", and random IT advices (AKA "have you tried turning it off and on again"), we are not treated like valued consumers here.

I'm also done with sony phones.

For the record, I tried a lot of things and read everything regarding data recovery when stuck in bootloop, and it's useless, you can just get a working again phone with everything deleted when using the Xperia Companion repair feature.

1 Hour ago I updatet my xperia xperformance to oreo 8.0. But the installation process doesn't stop. It reboots all the time, after I typed in the PIN to start Android. At this point it displays a screen similar to the screen from old tv when you arent on a channel.

In the internet i find nothing for this problem.

What can I do?

Well, I dont have a SD card 😕

I removed the Simcard whatsoever.

Yes, Support told me that aswell. I think it would even fix my phone, but I want to save my data first. Most importantly the pictures, videos and contacts, maybe if possible also the notes.

On the wide nets of google I can't find a solution for that without having USB-Debug activated(which I don't have).

I am pretty desperate now. Can't even use my onlinebank without sms tan :'(

I'm totally desperate too.

I launched the firmware update 4 hours ago and I have the exact same symptoms !

SONY logo "powered by android" then XPERIA animated logo, and finaly hang after a while, than strange broken display before the reboot. Etc. Ad lib.

My phone is a french dual sim 64GB xperia x performance, with no sd card mounted.

I totally hope there will be a solution allowing me to get my data back.

Edit : of course I tried everything related to safe mode following these steps : https://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaxperformance/kb/0231018877589a7b01429399b11c00699b/

I also tried to use Xperia Companion but, of course, the phone is never seen by the application.

I tried holding basically all buttons while powering the phone, with or without USB cable.

Nothing never happens, but the phone is still identified by EMMA (flash tool) but the bootloader is not unlocked, and I cannot do that from what seems to be a bricked phone.

I'm more and more mad each time I try to figure out how to get out from this situation.

8.0 was released for X/X Compact yesterday. And guess what? I had ABSOLUTELY the same issue (with that broken display and boot loop) after the update on my dual SIM 64 Gb Xperia X with no SD card as well. The only solution was hard reset via Xperia Companion. Luckily, there was almost no important data and I have Oreo installed, eventually, but I still don't understand why did it take two more month for them to release 8.0 on X/X Compact if they, basically, released the same broken update as for X Performance and XZ. What a joke!
