One phone, Two PC's

Hi there,

My PC isn't visable to my PC but is visable on my ancient laptop (both Windows 7).

All that happens on the PC is that the phone charges - no messages, I've tried four USB cables and turned all phones settings off & on several times but no difference.

Help Please

(If I need to download/install anything, can I have an "idiots guide" please)

Hi @Ageingdj,

What operating system is your PC using? Try installing Xperia Companion, restart the PC and try again.

Hi Cameron,

I'm running Windows 7 and reinstalled the Companion a dozen times.

I've also downloaded the driver from the Sony site but it refuses to install.

Is there a online version of the theme creator?

@Ageingdj,

Try turning on USB debugging on your phone.

To do this please go to Settings > About Phone, tap on the build number several times until it says "You are now a developer".
Then, go back to Settings and a new option called 'Developer options'. In here, turn on 'USB Debugging'.

Hi Cameron,

I've done all this, deleted the companion and then installed the software from my phone (which proves the PC can see the phone).

Windows Explorer now shows a "CD drive (F:)" with "Sony PC Software" and three files.

And still the software dosn't see the phone! (I'm not bothered with the Companion but what I want is the Theme Creator).

What do I do now please?

Try the following:

Download the relevant driver package from https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/. Make a note of the package folder name and of where you unzip the files.
Open Device Manager. You can do this by clicking Start, and then typing device manager. Then click Device Manager.
In Device Manager, right-click the name of your computer at the top of the device list, then click Add legacy hardware.
In the Welcome to the Add Hardware Wizard dialog, click Next.
Select the Install the hardware that I manually select from a list option, and then click Next.
Highlight Show All Devices and click Next.
Click Have Disk....
In the Install From Disk dialog, click Browse, and then find (see your note from step 1) and select the driver file ending with adb (written as xxxxxadb, where xxxxxx is the unique file name). Click Open.
In the Install From Disk dialog, click OK.
Highlight the Sony xxxxxx ADB Interface Driver file, then click Next twice. The installation starts.
Click Finish and then restart your computer.
