Texts sending for hours + duplicates

My Sony Xperia X has been faulty for months now, all my texts say sending for absolutely ages despite people receiving and responding too them. Then the phone sends them loads of duplicates in a huge wave which is annoying. I had the SIM replaced but that did nothing, tried factory resets but still nothing and I have just got the phone back from repair from Tesco Mobile which fixed the faulty headphone jack but the texts are still not right. Any suggestions?

Over the last couple of days my texts that I send have been stuck in "sending" status yet the message has been received by the recipient. Is this using up my data and looking for any suggestions on how to fix this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update - I just checked my usage. I have been charged 16 times for the one sms I sent. I have ended up deleting the message (still in sending status).
