Xperia X - Intermittent Charging Problems

I am having issues charging my phone. It started yesterday when I had to turn it off, plug in a USB connection and then turn it on for the charger to be recognised.

I tried with the wall charger last night - original Sony - and it still has the same issue only now it flashes on and off when the charging is interrupted.

The battery drained rapidly overnight when it wasn't on charge, a lot more than normal, and it became very hot again too.

I have booted in safe mode - same issue.

I have tried to connect to the PC Companion but as the connection keeps dropping.

I checked apps that have recently been updated and I haven't installed anything new recently.

It also keeps getting very hot - so much so that I left it in my fridge yesterday to cool it down!

Any ideas? I don't know what else to try!

Hi @Katonym, welcome to the community.

Does the charging port feel loose? Have you tried other USB cables?

When you attempted to do the repair, was it with PC Companion or Xperia Companion? I ask because PC Companion should no longer work.

it looks like an open-ended thread here so if it's ok I'll continue.

It seems that since yesterday I am suddenly having the same issue. My xperia x charges intermittent. No obvious cause as I had not installed anything recently. Options tried;

1) Different charger - same issue

2) connecting to PC - still same

3) safe mode - same

4) Factory reset - same still

Sometimes when I turn on the flight mode it allows to charge but this is not guaranteed.

Did a hard-reset while plugged in. No it's chargning but about 15 mins ago it was flashing for about 5sec and stabilised again. I have no idea what it could be. My fear is that I tried one of the usb fans -you know the one you plug into the charging port and it starts spinning. The problem started after that. Could this be the reason? Did this gadget ruin my charging port?

I am at loss as I have tried everything. Is there a point in trying to repair with xperia companion if Factory reset was done? The phone is still under the warranty, not even a year old

Please help!

Missed one solution.

Change your USB cable.

These things have a habit to wear out.

And the heating problem.

Does it exist in safe mode?

I am getting same problem, whenever I am trying to connect USB cable to charging port as always but from yesterday it is connecting for a second and after that disconnecting automatically. And whenever I am setting it up for charging it took more than usual to charge one percent , I am really disappointed about this. I change USB cable multiple times, I guess USB cable is not an issue because its working fine with others phone. Tell me if any solution there...
