Sounds stop working, only vibrate unless you restart the phone

Hi - I am running Android 9, and over the past few months, every few days the sound stops working - my phone doesn't ring, I don't get notifications. My phone only vibrates. I have to restart the phone to get it working again.

Has anyone seen this behavior and if so, any suggestions on how to fix?
