XZ Phone Super Heats and battery drains fast

Hi,

As per instructions provided in the manual , i charged the phone for 30 mins before switching it on . The phone got super heated and it radiated good heat energy, which clearly sensed in palms when we hold it.

Also when i was on call, my ears could sense the heat the device radiates.

Does any body faced the heating issue while charging and talking.

Since you just bought the phone, perhaps it's getting really hot as it's updating all the apps, downloading and syncing with servers.

Hi @Elang,

Uliwooly is quite right. When you get a new device you will likely notice it is heating up more right away, and taking longer to charge, draining more battery etc due to updates and app installs.

This should resolve itself over time, but if it continues please do let us know, we're here to help

In general, your phone will heat up more when you are doing high power processes such as playing games, taking photos and videos etc, which is normal.

On the first 2-3 days i noticed the phone got hot when charging, way over 50C. Now i don't have such high temperatures when charging but on idle is always around almost 37-40C or above and with the minimum or simple task it gets up to 55C++ and checking some temperatures sensures, some of them reach around 65C. I'm gonna send this phone back.

If i'm using the phone to browse the web and it gets hot with minimal load and need to use the camera i get warnings or it shuts the app down to cool and i can't take a photo... I bought this phone especially because of the camera.

In regards to the battery, sometimes it seems to drain really quick, especially when it gets hot, but if i give the phone little to normal use it can get until the end of the day with around 15-20%.

Also the heat is too much and unconfortable to have it in your hand or pocket.

I guess mine is definitely faulty and just have to have better luck next time.

Have you done a factory reset? Software bugs can cause excessive heat and all manner of problems. Otherwise your phone sounds faulty.

Qnovo fast charging is awesome. So what's the use, if it drains as fast as it got charged.. Little upset since the pre booking lot of confusion around promo offers, Sony and Amazon contradict with promise made.For India 🇮🇳 its Sony Smart band talk swr30, but it's disappointing that I might get voucher, which is still not yet confirmed from both the ends..Thats long thread of discussion am having with customer agents from both Sony and Amazon.
Still tend to fall in love with Sony..

hi. got the same problem. the bAtTery drains quicker than usual. this is my 3rd sony smartphone, and the 1st thing i noticeD is the bAtTery; weakest i had so far. i thought just mine

Friends,

I had the super heating issue and it has been replaced with new xperia xz . Unfortunatly this phone got packed with few more issues along with the heating .

- The heating issue prevailed with this new replaced xperia xz

- quinovo fast charging was not working . It was at very normal chargning speed like any other normal phone.

- 4k video recording for more than a minute hanged the phone and got to restart often.

- The panaromic shot, didnt capture the photos shots properly . The photo captured were frame less, i mean like some bugs eaten up the boarder frames of a photograph.

So i finally got to give up my phone for a refund . I loved this phone, but spend almost 50k indian rupees and it didnt meet the quality standards.

I started using my XZ on November 1 and initially the battery life seemed kinda "shortish". But that was something to be expected on a fresh (non-optimized) Android phone.
By today the battery life improved so significantly, that it qualifies as "amazing". I don't use the camera much, but I keep BT and WiFi permanently on. I can easily go for two-three days per charge.
Granted, I only make/receive about 5-8 calls a day. People who make more calls will certainly experience shorter battery life. But I have to note that my Nexus 6's battery fared much worse under the same usage.

hi after several weeks phone is now heating to the point where the phones swicthes off then repeats starup several time before i can even get top the menu i have run it in safe mode and i still get heat from even the basic apps the phone swiches off the repeatts the startup its like a big merry go round i have even factory reset good at start after couple of days the phone is just about useless and its getting worse i never had this problem with any other phone brand

Check If the software repair corrects the issue, if not, contact your local support.
