Unable to turn off text to speech

Each time I get a text my phone reads it aloud.

I'm unable to turn off text to speech, I've tried turning off features in accessibility, and still no luck.

Does this only happen with text messages? And which text messages app you are using?

Yes only with text messages, and I use the default one supplied with the phone which is messages.

Hi @R4ms4y, welcome to our forum!

Have you perhaps installed the Smart Connect application in your device? There is a setting in that application which will make it so the device reads out incoming text messages.

Open up Smart Connect > tap the three dots in the top right corner > Settings > uncheck the box next to "Text to speech".

If that doesn't help, try restarting your device in safe mode so we can see if this is caused by a download application.
