URGENT: Xperia XZ Dual SIM Went Dead After Software Update

Sometime in August 2018, I ran a belated software update on my Xperia XZ. Thereafter, the phone would often power off within 5 minutes off removing it from the charger (even though battery remains at 95% level). In essence, I can only use my phone when attached to a charger.

In view of this, I followed the instructions at /t5/Xperia-S-series/sony-Xperia-sp-keeps-shutting-down/td-p/936933#gref and tried to fix this through the use of PC Companion. I followed the instructions of the post at "2015-02-11 12:13 AM" by Jake-SonyXperiaSupport to trouble shoot this.

After Step 10 in the abovementioned post, my phone just went dead and this error message appeared: "The software update failed. Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again." Throughout this process, the phone was never disconnected from the USB cable.

When I then went back to the PC Companion to troubleshoot this by clicking on Software Repair, it now cannot detect my phone and says 1. Phone is locked and 2. Need to activate "Transfer Files" (through Settings | Device Connection|Transfer Files).

However, this cannot be the case as my phone was never locked and I could not proceed to activate transfer files given the phone does not power on.

How should I resolve this? Appreciate if anyone can provide some meaningful advice promptly. Thanks.
