SmartConnect not working properly after Pie update

I've been using the SmartConnect app (Sony's own app) for quite a while, more specifically the rule that puts the phone to Do Not Disturb if I connect the charger between 9pm and 8am. However, since the Pie upgrade this does not work if the phone is locked when I plug it into the charger, meaning I have to unlock the screen lock before plugging it in to make sure that it goes silent. It does not help to unlock the screen after the phone is already plugged in. I've tried to reinstall the app, but it does not help.

That's because the app is not supported or updated anymore. So it won't work correctly on android pie.

Pity cause I liked the app too

That's indeed a pity. Do you know of any alternative app that does the same? That is, putting the phone into DND when it is plugged into charger between certain hours.

So how do you know the app is obselete? According to Play Store it was just updated end of January ...

In my Play Store it says the last update was in April 2018. How do I get the January 2019 update, if there was one?

Use xperia assist app that's already pre installed

There is no new smart connect since 2018. Last version was 5.7. 33.1047

Hello everyone!

You might experience that the Smart Connect app is missing some actions if you have installed it yourself on a device that does not have it pre-loaded. This is because the Smart Connect app is being phased out. The app will continue working as long as it is available for download from Google Play, but during the phase out some features will no longer work.

As @Martin20 mentioned you can set up Xperia Actions to turn on certain features at different times, for example, enable do not disturb from a specific time and let it end at another specific time. There may also be other applications available in the Google Play store that can enable Do not disturb when you connect your charger.
