I realise that I was adjusting the wrong thing.

My headphones use aptx and are fine, the car stereo uses aac which has the problem. When I manually change to SBC it is fine.

Problem is every time I connect to the car it connects with AAC and I have to manually change to SBC to fix the problem

After installing the 52.0.a.3.163 update, bluetooth playback has been poor with small (half second) drop outs.

I have done a factory reset but the problem is still there.

I'm also experiencing the frequent brief BT audio dropouts, and I'm running with the update to the update (52.0.A.3.163-R4B). I'll try the network reset option mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

One other thing to consider is that BT has a tendency to drop or hickup when there are other BT connections around.

I checked (via developer mode) and my AVRCP was 1.5. So I've set it to 1.4 (default) and will check to see if the problem persists. If so, I'll try 1.3 (oldest available version). I recall going with an older AVRCP fixed a Bluetooth audio drop/hiccup problem with my old XZ Premium about a year ago. BTW, in developer mode my choices are 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6. Update: 1.4 seems to have fixed the problem.

So, I too used developer mode, AVRCP was also set to 1.6, but the Sony car stereo I use only supports 1.5, so I have set it to that and see what happens.
